Dated specs, grossly under-powered. It's capped at a 60hz screen -- my cheapo mobile phone has 90hz in comparison!

Part of the feature set is the size imo. Stretching this screen out, while not a perfect example, is going closer to the base iPad than Air. In this case, you are paying more to have it be more pocket and travel friendly (and a few more features).

You have a good point if it's only $100 more, and I really wish this had a higher refresh rate. But this is just the well executed Apple price ladder.
