I love my Zojirushi NS-ZCC10... and I know this one's technically better/faster with pressure cooking functionality, but paying almost $400 for a rice cooker seems a little ridiculous..

Last year for Prime Day, my wife and I (Asian household, FWIW) bought the Zojirushi ZCC10, this Zojirushi HCC10XH, and a Cuckoo CR-0375.

Over the course of 2 weeks, we did extensive testing because I'm a former engineer - and she's a very patient woman to tolerate my neuroses.

We made five types of grains with each: Jasmine, brown, gaba rice, sushi, and quinoa.

We compared the 3 cookers against each other and also against a stovetop method.

Each time we made a batch, we did a blind taste test to each other.

I can say with confidence that we tasted no discernible difference in flavor or texture among the 3 rice cookers for any of the 5 grains. 1/3 of the time one of us could identify the stovetop batch, but that's about it.

In terms of power consumption, I connected each cooker to a separate smart outlet with power monitoring.

In calculating the power cost in cooking the grains + keeping warm for on average 12 hours, I also observed, surprisingly, that there was no meaningful power savings between the induction and non-induction models.

Ultimately, we returned the Zojirushi because, setting aside the emotional and aesthetic attachments, our experience concluded the 3-8x cost premium was not merited.

that much money for a cooker that has a nonstick inner pot, not stainless or ceramic. that is a lot to get nonstick. I like my Panda rice cooker for 109 and it never goes on sale I waited and waited then bought it.
