anyone have experience with these?
That said, this is a gadget that's for convenience, not cost. I have an airtag in each of the six pieces of luggage my family shares. Since I have them hidden in the lining it's a hassle to dig them out to replace the batteries and they don't go bad at the same time, meaning that it's always cropping up.
The ones on our bicycles seem to go bad faster; either I had a run of bad batteries or the motion sensor on them being tripped more often results in more drain or... sunspots, I dunno. Those are also a hassle to change since I have them secured in a case with zip ties. Not having to service those as often would be a plus too.
tl;dr: there's two kinds of people in the world. One kind looks at the smoke alarms for sale with the built-in battery that promises 10 years of life before it needs replacing and says *hell yeah sign me up* and the other kind wrinkles up their nose and thinks *that much just to save a few minutes every six months? Fuggedaboutit.* This is for the first kind of person.

Also, alkaline 9V battery lasts about 2 years in a smoke alarm.

Thanks for taking the time to tell me my opinions are wrong. I'm going to give this all the time and attention it deserves.
