I bought 3 of these. 1 had a broken hose bracket, another was missing accessories and stuff to install it, another one failed 4 days before the 90 day return period. Returned all 3 of them. Like the other poster said, it's Russian roulette.

My unit shows: On full cooling load, 1200-1300 watts. On fan only, about 150-200watts. The game changer is duo hose. Most affordable non-inverter units are single-hose, that create negative pressure that draws air from any leak spot from outside. Dual hose design has the most efficiency gain. If your area is very hot, the unit is running non-stop to keep up the cooling demand, then inverter does not save much. But if your area is mostly 80-85F outside, then the inverter is mostly running on low speed (also quieter), then a non-inverter (constant speed compressor) is less efficient.

I bought it over 3 months ago for $249. I know it's like Russian roulette when you get the box. in my case it the AC looks brand new never been used+with all the accessories. it's been running in the room above the garage since last month non-stop. you can buy the extended warranty 3 or 5 years for $35 I think.

mine showed error code and stopped working in a weeks time, pain to return since it is on the second floor.

I've gone through several of these portable units of various brands. One was a Midea. I can't seem to get one that lasts longer than 3 years. I'm not sure if my luck is bad or if they're all just trash. I clean the filters regularly and do everything the manual says to do to keep them running well. I also only run mine at night in my bedroom, so it's not like it's running 24x7.

My lesson learned -- I will only buy these now if I can get an extended warranty. As someone else previously stated, the extended warranty companies will not generally do anything until the factory warranty runs out. In this case, if it breaks under the timeline of the factory warranty, I will just wait until the factory warranty expires and then deal with the extended warranty instead, because I've found they're much easier to deal with. The last one I had was some no-name brand from Amazon that didn't even last a year, but the extended warranty I bought from Amazon simply gave me a refund when I made the claim. The most recent unit I bought is an Insignia from Best Buy, again with the 4-year extended warranty... I'm 1.5 years into that unit now, so we'll see how it goes.

I asked AI and assume the unit is 1300watt (per Amazon) and assume 17 cent/kwh:

936 kWh×$0.17/kWh=$159.12
It would cost approximately $159.12 to run a 1300-watt device continuously for 30 days at 17 cents per kWh.

I ordered two so hopefully at least one is good. Being able to return to walmart within 90 days is much better then having to deal with midea directly. I'll get an extended warranty if things are looking good after a few weeks.

Thanks for the detailed response. I already have a dual hose Whyntner 14k and it pretty much runs non-stop so I probably wouldn't save much on the electric bill with the inverter since it would probably run non-stop too.

This is dual-hose(hense the name Duo). It is a larger inlet hose surrounding a smaller outlet (hot air) hose. This is by far the most efficient way, because the inlet air acts as insulation to the hot air hose.

What might help a little bit is improving insulation (ditch the included hose panels and cut a R8 foam panels from hardware stores.) and seal any potential gaps as best as you can.

Bought one a couple of months ago. Had a slight issue with the motorized vent. Fixed it myself and it's been working GREAT.

Electric bill was noticably lower since purchase. Compared with a single hose portable that was a little old.
