2 mile range sucks because you want 10-15 mile range to get 5 mile talking

Just received the USB-C versions of these yesterday and they'll probably get returned. No battery charge indicator and no display. Better options in this price range IMO.

I had the model before these. While they worked well the batteries all went bad in just over a year with minimal use. Disappointing

Actually there is a GMRS radio that's simpler and easier to carry.. but it isn't cheap.

Rockytalkies are great but you're correct, they have a heavy price tags and should check off most wants in a GMRS radio.

Received and tested on suburb on a straight line. 0.4 mile at most, and that's already with static.

I mean yes you are wrong but a fair warning to everyone else, I read this in the reviews "Will not work with usb type c chargers, only seems to work with the cheap type A charger bases."

So I am going to assume that means USB-C to USB-C cables wont work on this, and for that- I'm out.

These appear to be FRS radios, if they are, their wattage is limited I believe it's one watt and half a watt depending on the channel. Besides that all of these radios are going to be a line of sight limited with wattage and antenna type. GMRS radios look similar, but will give you a better performance, but require a license. It doesn't really matter if they're advertising 2 miles or 15 miles. They're all line of sight, when you see the 15 miles advertised for talking perfect condition mountain top to mountain top no obstacles.

Are these usable for skiing/snowboarding at ski resorts? Ie variable hills, lots of trees and possibly inclement weather?

Most likely not very well, there's too much foliage and obstructions
