I wanted to share my experience trying to get Samsung to honor a price match that was promised in writing during a chat with one of their support reps.
📌 Summary:
· I was told via live chat (with reference ID provided) that Samsung would price match an Amazon Prime Day deal after the item shipped.
· I followed all instructions exactly, including waiting until shipment to request the match.
· The deal included a discounted Samsung Frame TV and a free bezel.
· I also used a first responder discount, which they confirmed could be combined with the price match.
· After shipment, I contacted support as instructed.
🧱 What went wrong:
· Samsung later refused to honor the full price match, claiming:
· - They can't match third-party bundles (like the free bezel).
· - Their policy only allows matching price drops, not prices that are now higher.
· Despite clear written confirmation that they would honor the price match
· After escalation to a supervisor, I was told $72 was the maximum refund allowed - when the actual difference was over $330, and I could either accept that or return/refuse the delivery.
· No accountability for the original rep's commitment, other than a vague statement that they'd be "reprimanded."
💬 Final Supervisor Response:
"As a supervisor, I don't want to leave false hope... the $72 is the max we can request. We do hope you understand our limitations."
🚩 Takeaway:
Even with written confirmation, Samsung may not honor price matches — and you'll be left with little recourse.
If you're considering a Samsung.com purchase based on support promises, take screenshots and be cautious.
I've bought multiple Frame TVs in the past — but this experience was extremely disappointing.
