Per previous slickdeals discussions, it appears Nintendo of America will not honor the warranty on international models even if they were purchased in the US.

Owning the Switch 2 since launch, I say don't bother with this and just put that 250 towards a switch 2. The way it runs Switch 1 games alone is worth it. Everything is at least stable running and many games are fully enhanced just by the power of the system, without a patch. Some even run at full on 60fps and look better, like Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition. Lots of games have patches already and many more will be coming. The Switch 2 is actually quite a powerful system! I am impressed and going back to Switch 1 isn't feasible, with very few exceptions. There is a huge library of games for switch I just couldn't bear to play because of horrible unstable frame rates. I was pretty excited once I started testing out those games on the Switch 2. If you can get one definitely do it.

I agree with him. Why buy something that's only going to get 1 more year...at Best ...of support. And none of the big games after Metroid will come to Switch 1. I wouldn't invest in a switch 1 now...no matter how cheap it is.

I plan on rocking my Switch until the Switch 3 comes out.

If I didn't have a Switch, I would definitely get the Switch 2.

Would recommend switch 1 vs 2 if a gift for a younger kid that's not aware of games yet. Also the express cards are much more expensive (required for the S2 vs S1).

I got the white Japanese console from Woot two years ago for $290. No issues with regions or DLC. It's worked great, but now it's collecting dust because I have a Switch 2, and I'm not really sure what to do with it.

Regarding the warranty, I haven't had any issues, but I wonder if your credit card company would pay for the "extended warranty" perk/repair (for those cards that have it) if there was an issue with the console if Nintendo considered it out-of-warranty.

Also to note, some games run a bit smoother but have horrible memory leaks that seem worse than the Switch 1. I also booted up Diablo 3 and managed to freeze the Switch 2. Not sure if that's the game or the Switch 2 as I haven't touched the game in a few years.

I have the original Switch 1 and now the Switch 2. In my opinion and ymmv I think the Switch 2 is worth getting for the larger screen and improved performance of my investment in the old games and for the new games coming in the future. It truly is just a souped up Switch though. I just wouldn't spend a couple hundred bucks on the original when the future has already arrived and surpassed.

Lmfao nobody wants the switch 2. So many in stock where I live.
Look, i dont know where you live, but facts are facts and the Switch 2 sold the same number of units in 3 days as the Switch 1 in a month.

It is by far Nintendo's most successful console to date, saying no one wants one is just lying.

Just a friendly reminder that Nintendo of America does NOT cover international version, even if you pay for parts and labor.

With that saying... I recommend this over switch 2. I own both

Oh so just simply spend double the amount of money for a overpriced console that has a worse screen and only has only a handful of DECENT games? Lmfao nobody wants the switch 2. So many in stock where I live.

Yep, Switch 2 is worth it and is not overpriced. It plays ALL switch 1 games and also Switch 2. Screen looks fine (I have both OLED and Switch 2). With OLED you can't get VRR, which is a great trade off on the Switch 2.

Depends on your use case. My jailbroken switch gets more play time than my steam deck

Are all OLED models hackable? Or have to be old firmware?

Probably sub $200 will be a deal....

It is a good console but probably as someone stated, Nintendo only planned to support the Switch 1 ~ 2 years more... also, you going to expect only some Nintendo Exclusives will be launch with this console
for example, 2026 rhythm heaven Groove. That is only big one I am going to buy for Switch 1.

Most Nintendo Switch games perform better with switch 2.. some still with compatibility issues.

I personally own few Swtiches.. Lite, V1, V2 and OLED... I dont regret that since I had some good time on it.
- Mario Wonder
- Luigi Mansion 3
- Xenoblades.

But I wouldnt pay $250 as today.. I have Switch 2, but mostly I will use Switch 1 to play Switch 1 games since accessories like Pro controller, joycons.... are more expensive with Switch 2...
You can use your switch 1 accessories on Switch 2 especially the controllers, but not the dock. Obviously Switch 1 joycon cannot attach to Switch 2.
The games I am playing not graphic intensive... May be you are working on Mario Odessy, Pokemon, Hogwards, Zelda... some of those games are significantly improved with Switch 2

Hey man, no need to flame this guy for offering their opinion. You're welcome to offer yours, but don't insult another's. That's childish behavior. We're all here to look for deals, share info or opinions, and have fun. Let's keep it to that.
