Headboards are usually a decent additive but if you are getting this for a spare bedroom/kids room this deal is pretty decent.

I like this brand, and having the built-in wood slats are really nice. The platform that I got was one of the thin metal wire framed ones, so I had to end up buying bunky boards separately since I use just a memory foam mattress with no box spring. Seems like this design would solve that

These are very sturdy and pretty good quality. We have 2 of these setup next to each other in our master bed and we co-sleep with our two little boys. I previously tried beds with head board, but when you combine two of those, they create a space between the beds. These platform beds create minimal space between them when you combine two, which works perfectly for our use case until the boys are old enough to sleep in their own room.

I had recently got two of them and they are solid. Headboard would be good but I needed them now and for 50 bucks each wasn't a deal breaker.

The metal one is half an inch higher, if that matters to you. More space underneath. As far as sturdiness goes, I think both are going to be the same. The metal one's weight capacity seems higher at 700 lbs.
