This movie is pretty bad. The first movie is one of my favorite movies ever - and if you consider the 2nd one canon it makes the first movie worse, so I just forget this movie exists when I watch the first one lol.

Quote from VioletHealth8715 :
Studios ask Ridley Scott to make a 2 hour movie, so he makes a 6 hour movie and then cuts it down to 2.The pace of this was way too fast, you were thrown into one thing after the other without having a care at all because you didn't have time to associate with any of the characters.I'd wait for the directors cut to come out. That's when you'll see the movie as the director envisioned it. Granted it'll be like 4 hours long, but that's what's needed here. Nobody liked this because it was way too condensed. Not defending Ridley, studios time and time again tell him "we need 2-3 hours" and he delivers 6, so they have to cut half of it and it creates problems.Best characters were the two emperors. Sadly they don't get much screen time.
"No, Gladiator II will not be receiving a director's cut, according to director Ridley Scott. He has stated that he has final cut on the film and has already made the version he intends to release. While the initial cut of the film was nearly four hours long, the theatrical release will be shorter, but there are no plans to release an extended version as a separate director's cut. "
