I just put this bed together two days ago. You could feasibly make it 8x4 or an 8x8 or 4x4

Thanks, bought 2. Reviews are pretty unanimous that it's not the sturdiest of structures, but at that price there's not much to lose. I'm sure it'll last a season. I'm interested in seeing how involved reducing the size will be - 12 feet isn't ideal. But, again, that price!

Current PT wood is pretty safe to use. Not like how they used to make it which last much longer.

From what I have read, PT wood is just not worth the risk for growing food with.

I forgot where I read it, but the chemicals used to PT wood after 2000 are supposed to be a lot safer now. Safe enough to grow to used in raised beds. I'll have to see if I can find it again...

Use untreated cedar fence posts. They are cheap and they last.

My neighbors have been giving away cedar boards/posts and cutoffs leftover from fence projects. I've make ten planters with the give-away materials with plenty of wood left over. Try your local buynothing group to see if anyone is giving away any cedar. Otherwise, any lumber yard will have that.

I've got seven galvanized raised beds in my backyard. Three of them are 4x12, which have been in use for about three years. They've held up well, with very little rust. We get an average of 60 inches of rain here, and I water them when needed, and they're still relatively rust free, and I would expect them to last for many more years. I would estimate the life span on these to be at least ten years if these are the same gauge as mine. I paid more for mine, and if I had room, I'd buy this one at this price. The only issue with these is reaching across them when planting or weeding. I prefer 3' beds because of that, but at this price would grab one if I had the room.
