Just FYI, when you ask this a question, 95% of the time it will just pull up a website and not audibly respond with an answer.

man. even at this price im nervous about investing in google home devices until i see some sort of indication that they arent going to phase assistant out completely for gemini nonsense.

If this was even 2 years ago, I would be all over it. But Google has done a great job of making my existing one super frustrating to use

Yup, on mine there's a weird black bar on the left hand side which has caused all of the content to shift right, and the screen randomly turns red. Seems like they're just trying to clear these out in favor of the new Pixel tablets
Yup, same here. The first one got weird green lines and eventually the screen went totally black. I now just use it as a smart speaker.

The second one I have now has black and white lines on the left side of the screen. Fortunately, I use it as a night clock and a Bluetooth player for white noise to sleep to.
It seems like a common issue that Google doesn't care about fixing. I'm debating whether to pull the trigger though, my local HD has it for this price, because I do like how dim you can make the screen for sleeping.

These are great to display cameras. When I'm expecting guest I'll toss out "ok Google show front yard" and am able to see when they are coming

I want to control my LG TV UR8000 with the Nest Hub specifically I want to be able to tell it to search and play Youtube video clips. Can this be done ?

Been searching and the impression I got is yes, it might be possible. Just want to get confirmation from someone in here who has attempted this before.

Or can youtube video played on the nest hub be casted to the TV ?

It shows $99 for me. Does anyone have a zip code that works for $50?

Can confirm sale is still going as of 645 pm EST. I noticed that the site increased the price from 50 to 100 but I had a suspicion it would ring up for 50 in store. Went in and confirmed that the signage at checkout and ring up at counter was 50.

I still using Gen 1. Is Gen 2 really an upgrade ?
There are three big differences. Sleep Sense which will monitor your sleeping without having to wear a device, motion gestures where you can swipe your hand or whatever to control alarms and stuff and the biggest imo is that this supports thread which is the newest smart home communication protocol. This is the cheapest thread border router out there when it's on sale. For example lets say you use Smarthings and have a V2 hub from 2015. It does not support thread but it supports Matter so that means you could use your Nest Hub V2 as a thread router to integrate thread devices into smartthings. The Smartthings V3 hub (discontinued long ago) and the Aeotec Smart Home Hub (never in stock) are the other smarthings hubs I know of that have a thread border router built in.

Also I will mention that Google in the past has publically stated that they would eventually put the sleep sense feature behind a fitbit paywall. That was apparently supposed to happen in 2024 but still has not occured.
