I don't know about the sound, but lots of studies have shown that oscillating-rotating brushing is far superior to sonic toothbrushes in reducing plaque and gingivitis. I'm going with the Genius model.

The IO 7 is well worth the extra $20. The IO is sonic vs oscillating. It's way more effective and the Genius sounds like a jackhammer.

I recently bought the ios 7 coming from a genius and was very disappointed. Going to stick with genius. Far superior

As this would be my very first electric toothbrush, can anyone please tell me if I should chose this Genius X over their Smart 1500 model? I was basing my purchase off of electictoothbrush.com recommendations. Thank you.

I was going to get the io model but I hear lots of people complaining about water getting trapped and mold developing so I'm going to get this G model. hopefully older G model doesn't have same issue

the IO is the worst toothbrush I have ever used. it has a hole in the toothbrush heads that naturally leaks a combo of spit/toothpaste unless you perpetually tilt your head backwards while using it, or stick out your lips and seal around a part of it that is unnaturally far. it was a horrible user experience all around.
I will say though, it does clean teeth well. It just isn't worth the trade offs.

IO 7 is both oscillating-rotating and sonic.. According to some study you can Google, IO series can apparently cure periodontitis..

sonicare ftw, lol. They were the first that could reverse a gum condition. Oral came later. Wink But their manual toothbrushes are great.

Interesting. In what way? I went from a base model Oral-B regular ('Pro') to the base model iO, and the iO was superior. Not so much in terms of cleaning, which I found equivalent, but the handle vibration and oscillation (well, Oral-B would argue 'sonic' on the iO, but the motion feels similar) action were more pleasant.

I would never pay more than $20 for an Oral-B toothbrush. They will stop supporting it in a year and you will be left with a standard "dumb" toothbrush.

I bought their alexa one years ago, then they removed all the features that supported and it became completely dumb.
