It's likely because you can get the Samsung soundbar for around $700 and this might be better but it's not $500.
Most people haven't even heard this either.

I've tested this system and I'm surprised it's getting thumbs down as well. Definitely worth it at that price point. I'm guessing people are skeptical because it's Nakamichi but they've gotten better over the years.

yup.. value isn't isolated, especially since nakamachi doesn't have a stand out reputation or market to a different segmentation (ie. B&O).

The surround speakers are connected to the subwoofer.
Different compared to the Samsung and LG soundbars, which are "wireless," they still need to connect to the outlet.

You cant compare the Samsung soundbar with the Nakamichi. The Shockwafe with dual subwoofer sound very immersive. The Dragons are a whole new level

No internet, so no casting such as air play, chrome cast, spotify connect, etc. If you haven't ever heard the audio quality difference between bluetooth and casting, just know that it's super noticeable.

Whizzer-cone drivers all throughout? Fine for a budget system, but almost everything I can think of has a dedicated tweeter.

Speaking of dedicated tweeter, this bar is using them as the sole driver for "width" channels, much like most bars out there. Not much of a loss here anyway, as side-firing speakers don't do what the fancy graphics show.

If you care, this bar has no upward-firing channels, though you're not missing anything without them. Again, don't fall for the fancy graphics on all the pages.

I would rarely ever recommend a bar for anyone looking for enjoyable sound, but at this price-point, just get the Sennheiser Ambeo Plus and add a subwoofer of your choice.

Better yet, a dedicated 3.1 system with a receiver and place the speakers as far apart as you can without them degrading the cohesion.

No, there is no wired output for a subwoofer.

No one mentioned the $4000 ($2500 on sale) Dragon.

But if you're curious, look at all the reviews on how bad the Dragon subs are. Big yikes.

To each their own but Nakamichi Dragon soundbars are for people with deep pockets that just want convenience. $2.5K~ $4K for a HTiB???

Also....Nakamichi reminds me of the camera company Red Digital Cinema. Their proprietary peripherals & accessories are very expensive!

$399 for stands???

Agree, the shockwafe 7.2.4 was available until a year ago around 700 comparable to Samsung in cost

There's a difference between impact and sound quality. Watch Andrew Robinson's review on the system.
