Hi, looking for a battery backup for the fridge, lamp and a fan for blackouts. Blackouts usually only last a few hours (knock on wood) in my area. Is this a good product and deal? Not sure of the original price was inflated to make the sale price appealing. Thanks!

I'm no expert, but I don't think the battery pack alone qualifies for any rebate as it doesn't generate any power, only stores it. You'd have to add some solar panels....

Batteries of at least 3kWh capacity qualify for the 30% non-refundable federal tax credit (Residential Clean Energy Credit [irs.gov]). Although, with the passage of the new OBBBA law, I believe this credit expires at the end of this calendar year.

Why does the 30% rebate bring it down only $180? 30% of $1500 = $450 ?

Correct. The tax law is also vaguely worded. The installed system must be 3kwh or higher, meaning hypothetically you could chain multiple batteries together to go over this mark. Also what does installed mean? Lol, duct taping it to your garage floor? Enforcing this would be a nightmare. It is misleading to act like the battery purchase alone would qualify though, you definitely need panels as well.

The 30% is a tax credit on your 2025 tax return. It has no effect on the purchase price you pay today.

Could this power two or three full size refrigerators during the day while charging, then have enough juice to repeat the following day? When we loose power from hurricanes, it could be three to six days to get power restored. I typically run my gas generator during the day to keep things running, shut it off at night, then restart in the morning.
