Those are POS. Bought one for the full price from apple store when they just came out+ apple care. Worked ok first month, then started draining battery like crazy. Support did not find anything wrong and insisted that you must use apple cables and brick to charge it, which is bs. No difference there. Did not use it for couple weeks and that glich went away(assuming software issues). It was ok until IOS 17 came out. And it seems they overwritten previous fixes. All over again battery drains like crazy, support acting like dummies and blaming anything other than apple. It was at point of getting charged overnight, disconnected from charger. Set it on table, screen off(sleeping). Dead by 6 pm, just laying around unused. In all that time I tried every fix and trick I could find online. Nothing helped. At that point I said f@$k it, and bought Lenovo pro series tablet that was on good deal at that time. Holds charge for about a week with light use as it should. Then later on took a risk and traded in that pos for m2 based 11" ipad pro, once they got big price cuts since m3 one came out. Still works perfectly and holds change as it should for about a week in my use case. (Lenovo still works perfectly fine and holds change very good). Maybe apple fixed software/firmware for those Airs, just be aware of this issue and return at the first signs of severe battery drain.

We have both in our household. The cheaper version has much better battery life. M2 drains battery faster. Depends on how you're going to use it. I'd say the base A16 will be fine for most people using a tablet to stream, browse, minor games, take notes, procreate.

This. I got this over the holidays for double the price of an iPad. Don't see much of a performance difference. I'm a light user and expect the thing to have a charge when I need it, but this thing leaks charge like an android tablet. My ancient base iPad will hold a charge for months!

After update to iPad is 18.5 I find no phantom battery leak. Continuous YouTube video on 60% brightness burns 9% of battery per hour which I think is reasonable.
