I understand that it's cheap and all, but why would anyone need this?
Food safety reasons. Refrigerated food should be kept between 35° - 38° F. for optimal food preservation to reduce food borne illness. Plus different temperature zones inside most refrigerators.
This works well. My fridge has stopped defrost mode. So every Sunday; I have to unplug it while we go to service at church. This helps me monitor well. I had purchased two on the previous sale.

well, what I meant is this device requires direct read but if you're looking at it, likely you would be able to figure out that something is not right anyways. So, to me low-energy sensors like Yolink(?) are more useful for surfacing such issues.
