I'd argue this is still the best compact impact you can get for Dewalt. The 860 has more power but it's also ~1" wider and the 870 is double the price for being quieter with little to no performance increase.

They are not identical, Ace has the same model of the OP, standalone for $80 more

Before the latest releases (DCF860, DCF870), this was the most powerful impact driver in the 20V MAX platform. On top of that, it was also the most compact. As Para_noid notes, the newer DCF860 is more powerful, but it is also larger. The DCF870 has the same form factor and is quieter (hydraulic) but doesn't outperform this one*.

*On paper the DCF870 has much lower torque than this one, but since it's hydraulic each impact is longer but with significantly less torque. The net effect is going to be comparable to this one in some scenarios and worst in others, but possibly better in a few niche circumstances.

You could add the 2-pack of DCB205 and charger, also in the Fasteners Saturday sale, for $119. You would then get free shipping. However, if you get that impact driver, I would highly recommend using DCBP034s (the compact 1.7Ah POWERSTACKs). It's a sweet combination--that battery was pretty much made to pair with the DCF850.

At launch, Torque Test Channel said it claimed the same specs as DeWALT's highest-end impact driver despite being significantly smaller. Tested even better. Since then, the released the higher-torque DCF860 and the quieter DCF870 hydraulic.

I'd been looking for a deal on a DCF850 since loaning my DCF809 Atomic two years ago but the Lowe's DCF860 + 2x 4AH battery deal from May was too good to pass up. Otherwise I'd be all over this!
