I have a similar model in blue (RA-AA0818L19B) and love it. I had to regulate it a little bit but keeps excellent time. I think it's just a matter of preference on the color. My model cost more, but I got it because of the sapphire.
One thing to note is that the metal band is not that good. I bought it knowing that, though, and replaced it with a rubber strap.
Even most "watch snobs" recognize the quality/value of Orient.
If I had a friend considering an Invicta, I'd point them to an Orient.
The Mako 2 cuts some serious corners with the Mineral crystal and sub par jangly bracelet and low end clasp and less than ideal bezel and crown action. I like the look of an aluminum bezel but that is also a cost cutting measure now that matte ceramics are on the market.
I do think they are a good value for a Japanese brand, but if looking on the global scale there are better values out there that use Japanese guts.
Kammasu is the upgraded version of these two. Again slightly different package, but upgraded with sapphire crystal.
Mako III also exists, but it has a funkier dial/bezel colors so not a lot of cross-shopping.
Given their popularity there's a huge modification market. Long Island Watch sells replacement bracelets and rubber straps made in-house -- I've never used them but they look quality. I've been cross-shopping these watches for a couple weeks, also considering Seiko SRPD55 and SSK GMT. Both are more expensive than these Orients by ~$70 and ~$140 so having trouble deciding. Again similar after-market resources given their popularity.

Within my collection, I still have an original "Pepsi" Mako and Orange Ray (with the extra crown for date change), three Tritons ("Baby Sat"), couple of Bambino (2nd Gen, one is the classic creme dial with blue hands) and three of the Orient Stars. 43 watches on that page (which is only a sub set of what they make). only 6 of them are clear Rolex homages. In fact, way more are Tudor homages, but they have plenty of stuff that isn't Rolex family.
