Really tempted by this to replace my failing projector... does anyone know if they will work with you on delivery? ie. delivering to back door/etc?

If budget allows, go for QM8k. I returned qm7k and so happy with qm8K. Movies like Sinners. quite place even most of Avengers with night vfx scenes looks horrible in qm7k. I tried professional calibtation too.

Still is not 50% better than the QM7K IMO $3k vs $2k... I'll stick with this unit when it comes to bang for buck.

QM8K hasnt even been tested by RTings yet and more than likely is a small improvement over the QM7K unless tests show otherwise so really isnt worth the 50% increase in price in my opinion. I am not sure why you think QM7K struggled with night effects when RTings tests showed its contrast at 265,133 : 1 with local dimming enabled scoring a 9.4 on the test. That should be plenty for good night scene contrasts.
