What is your use case ? How many devices ? How many devices use 6GHz/5Ghz/2.4GHz ? How big is the house/apartment where this is to be installed ? What is your internet speed ? Are you simply asking from a price perspective ? Do you need any additional features on the router ? Do you need 3rd party firmware support ?
Just asking which one is better will get you an answer, but it may or may not get you the answer that you need.

My parents live 2 houses down in the same development. Would I be able to extend my Internet with this router so they could get my internet? Anyone have a product they recommend? Thanks!

No nothing can do that without fiber or Ethernet run unless you put an antenna on the roof if you can see each other

this might work if you can clearly see other with nothing in the way and it's aligned. they don't need a router just a switch

You only need this if you have gigabit cable or fiber

No Merlin on this one and I want to upgrade my main mesh router which is RT-AX86U, the best router I have had. Just need to be patient I suppose.

I must have bad luck or something but Asus routers give me nothing but problems. Devices stop connecting, signal goes in and out. Went with TP Link and haven't looked back

I wouldn't say so. The 6Ghz band is helpful to have in high congestion areas such as apartment buildings, regardless of internet speed, as you get to use a band that most people don't use. Outside of the 6G support, this isn't really a standout router performance wise. Middling routing speeds, not great reception, and no merlin support. I would get a dual band ax86 pro over this.

You are onto something real good here.

Are you using this w/o on FIOS service? That'd be my use case

yes. I don't have Verizon service and this works great. the built-in MoCA allows me to setup a couple of these routers as access points hardwired using coax. bought mine for about $50ea in ebay. the signal strength on these things are excellent...it's even stronger than my Asus ET12 for 2.4 and 6ghz. contemplating in selling my Asus and just go all in with these. if you're considering these, make sure you're getting the CR1000A and not the CR1000B. there are issues with the B model.

Very slick. Thx for the 100A advice. The one thing I need is 1G Mutilink ethernet for Synology NAS (no 2.5G native port sadly). Not clear how I can work around this feature wo buying an entirely new NAS.

The other thing with ASUS is enabling AiMESH if that day comes. But you got MOCA to multiple access points which is close enough to a mesh.

You got my wheels turning.

I was a fan of Asus AiMesh until I found out that all nodes use the same wifi channels. what do you get when you have multiple wifi nodes on the same channel? yes...overlap...and overlap causes wifi interference. so I switched my Asus to access point mode so that I can choose which non-overlapping channels to use for 2.4, 5, and 6ghz radios...result...faster wifi speeds on all 3 radios. even if you go hardwire with Asus, all nodes will still use the same wifi channel.
