Any chance the Wes Anderson 4 Movie Collection gets a 4k upgrade later? Considering they are due on Criterion

What I have seen happen to any digital HD purchases from Apple TV that I have made get automatically upgraded to 4K when it is released.

How can you tell on the Apple TV app that a movie is MA compatible? I can't find it in the description or anywhere.

Search for the name of the movie on MA. If it doesn't come up, then it isn't on MA and won't port from Apple tv

Ah…that's interesting. So it should be MA no matter where you buy it then.

I've got to grab that Nicholas Cage bundle. I've been wanting those movies for a long time. Well crap, I already own Gone in 60 Seconds. The other two movies are great but aren't worth $6.50 each for digital only.

As long as that provider is linked in your Movies Anywhere and they have it on MA.

Not necessarily. I bought Stop Making Sense a few years ago and was disgusted to see it was sourced from a terrible print which was barely better than the DVD I already had. Then A24 did an IMAX remaster which was later put out and it was a separate title I had to buy even though they updated the old version with the A24 logo poster. Lame.

Criterion Collection is a different studio than whoever put the movie out first. The Fantastic Mr. Fox was Fox Searchlight and there is no digital Criterion version that I can find. If you buy the Directed by David Lynch bundle, it includes Mulholland Dr. but only in HD even though they re-released a 4K disc version.

Regardless, what blows about digital Criterion releases is they omit all the extras which make Criterions what they are. Sure, you can get the feature for $5 during sales, but you lose the stuff that costs $20 for discs (during sales; does anyone actually pay list price?).
