Crescent is only 1 1/8" opening, this is 1 7/16", this also has a lanyard hole for a tetther.

It's a spud wrench. Most common use I have seen is assembling scaffolding.

Every iron worker I've ever seen at work has a spud wrench. They use it to align holes in the structural steel so they can bolt the pieces together.
