Spend the extra money and buy a vacuum chamber sealer. I've been using vacuum sealers for 20+ years and switched to chamber….game changer with no more liquid damaging vacuum pump.

I tried this unit last year. It's a good product but one shortcoming is that it only accepts bags up to 10" wide, whereas most large-sized replacement bags commonly available are 11" wide. That leaves you mostly locked into their own branded bags if you need the largest size this unit can handle. Their branded bags were a good quality thick plastic, though.
I ended up returning and buying another similarly priced model (BEYUAM BTHK028) that can fit 11" wide bags. The quality and design is maybe 80% as good as this one, but is working well for my needs, i.e. light occasional use, mostly dry goods.

I find that I can't justify $300-1000 for a vacuum chamber sealer. Nor do I think that the average homeowner will find it cost effective despite the superiority of a vacuum chamber sealer over a Foodsaver-type device. JMHO.

I have been using the same sealer for 15yrs or so and aside replacing the gasket I have had no issues. We use it a lot & it is getting time to replace but no way I'm shelling out for a chamber unit.

No doubt. I've been close to pulling the trigger on a chamber vacuum sealer a dozen times. Each time, I stop and remind myself my trusty old FoodSaver still works just fine. I do use it a lot and have changed the gasket on it once, and that's one of the advantages of buying a name brand sealer over generics, replaceable parts. Who knows with this one being offered.

I mostly vacuum seal meat and over the years I've learned how to seal without liquid being an issue, so as much I want a chamber sealer I just can't justify it considering the extra space it takes. I may change my mind though. It's more tempting now that there are legit chamber vacuum sealers under $300.

I fold up a paper towel (half sheet) into a 1/2 strip which I place at the top of the bag. This soaks up the majority of liquid (I also like to include a marinade) which the vacuum draws up. Also be sure to position the top of the bag into the small trough which is designed to catch the liquid which is pulled up by the vacuum.

I also don't have the counter or cabinet space to accommodate a chamber vacuum sealer.
