Easiest way is to put the dead battery into the charger next to a working one as you would normally to charge them. Connect the + side of the batteries with a thin wire (paperclip will work if it's thin enough). Tricks the charger into thinking it has the voltage of the one next to it. I keep a short thin wire in my box of batteries and chargers just for this.

If the batteries are completely drained, a smart charger will not be able to charge them. Put them into a dumb charger for 15 min, to bring them back up to a minimum level of charge, then put them in the smart charger again. I've had this happen a few times, and it always works for me. A "dumb charger" is a charger than charges batteries with no regard for the actual battery level and instead uses an internal timer to know when to turn itself off.

So, the same price for something with unknown quality vs an established reputable brand.

Seems like a good price if you already have a charger. I've had eneloops running strong for years. Haven't purchased regular batteries in over a decade.

Subscribe & Save does not appear to be required for the $15.99 price. I was able to do one-time purchase. S&S is also $15.99, but who would S&S for reusable batteries?

I noticed the same thing right away not sure why OP bothered to put S&S unless something changed. Also I paid $14,50 after tax (Had a 15% amex offer - Always check for those when buying stuff ship/sold by amazon).

Except in this case there's no discount in the first shipment, so S&S with intent to cancel would just be causing extra work. I'm sure by the time there's an 'auto-shipment' the price would be back up to $18.99+

My OP has S&S info with different tiers but has not S&S as a requirement for deal price. Deal editor added this info for to the FP. I'll ask to fix

I found a 10 count for $19.90 or $18.40 with SS. That's $1.84 a piece. Not sure if this is a different generation or model. But I went for them.

I hope you remember to switch your charger to low charge mode when you charge AAA.

My kid lost a number of these in some of his toys for a year. Now they are completely dead and won't charge, any suggestions? I heard of shock charging them. And I have a few others that take a few seconds to fully charge from empty. And run out of charge quickly. 4 years old. I'm not sure if it's me but I've had better luck with the Japanese Energizer AA rechargeables that are older but running stronger.
