Good price, but not the right time for use as this is a preventer.

Much better bang b for your buck buying prodamine and mixing it with water, then spraying. Even if you have to buy a sprayer you'll save money in the long run.

I bought a 5lb container of prodamine ladt spring for $80. That should give me roughly 3 years, applying 2x a year. that's on about 3/4 acre

Should I buy the same stuff for my backyard if it's more than just crab grass. Like tumble weeds and tall growing weeds. I live by the mountains and it's windy.
Prodamine is a pre-emergent that will prevent the germination of some very specific grasses/weeds. This will 100% help prevent crabgrass is applied in a timely fashion. The other stuff I'm not sure, I'd suggest follow up applications of a general weed killer to take care of those other items if still present.

This is what i use. Rate depends on if you only want to apply once or split apps. Like i said this 5lb container shpuld get me 6 applications on my 3/4 acre. Plus the coverage is 10x better with liquid apps than granular. I can't recommend this stuff enough.. cheaper and more effective per app

Can it prevent crabgrass? The label says no and only against the following: Annual bluegrass (Poa annua), Henbit. gainst Knotweed, Chickweed, Spurge, Foxtail, Goosegrass

Everyone needs to do their own unbiased research, do a better job of communicating and being a better person.

I did a little research on prodamine, it tends to stay on the soild and has generally low-moderate impact on the environment as long as you limit runoff into nearby bodies of water

Note I'm biased, 70% of water usage is maintaining non-native lawns instead of native plants I do not care for water usage and wasting money on maintaining lawns, yet I do just to spite my shitty neighbor. I hope future generations look at us as the idiots we are and learn from this

Thanks much - I've been using Halts and since my neighbor's lawns arte 80% cragrass, am fighting infestation now. I tried to read on the label -want to spray it on my bermuda grass - to control crabgrass and poa annua. Is this safe on bermuda? I think so.
its too late to kill weeds. spraying anything this time of year will harm your bermuda. kill the weeds in the fall, use preemergent in fall/spring.. any weeds that survive just have to coexist until fall LOL

We did have a couple of cool days here in Raleigh (earlier this week) so I did spray, and I think it had some impact at first glance. I will spread Halts+TurfBuilder in mid-late August, and again in late September (to prevent Poa Annua), then Halts-type pre-emergent (have some 0-0-7) in mid January and mid-March to clobber the crabgrass.

What I really need is to get some industrial strength glyphosate and water my neighbor's lawns with it. One neighbor is like 90% crabgrass, the other is 50% and growing. (just a fantasy - won't really do it!)

Do you use any specific spray for dandelion?

FYI, Scotts Halts Crabgrass & Grassy Weed Preventer is not effective or necessary in the fall.

It's a pre-emergent herbicide designed specifically to stop warm-season weeds like crabgrass before they germinate, which happens in early spring when soil temps hit around 55°F.

This product is awesome. I used it for the first time this spring, and I have not had one spot of crabgrass or weed in my entire lawn. I spent so much time over the previous years putting down other products and spot spraying weed killer. Scotts halts---I put it down before the soil got too warm and that's it. Buying 2 bags to cover 10k square feet. Happy to have it for next spring.

Probably why it's on sale. You out it in your shed until the fall

It works on crabgrass its widely accepted in lawn communities as one of the most preferred method for keeping crabgrass at bay.
I can snap a picture of my lawn here at the end of July and you can tell me if it works Big Grin
I think I've had to spot treat about 5 individual small crabgrass plants so far this season.

Perhaps. But Prodamine is MUCH cheaper per application. 5lbs of prodamine will last me almost 3 years @ 2 apps per year. Tenacity even off brand looks to run about $34 for 8oz, which is basically 1 acre of coverage.
