I love PD gear (I have a lot of it), but I can't see this being worth $400+ unless you're a pro travel photog getting paid well. I know it's small and light and CF material, and If it hits $250ish I'll pull the trigger, but $600 SRP is nuts. Maybe Best Buy will clear them out again for $200.

Agreed. This is a good deal if you want a really compact tripod. Otherwise, one should consider occasional deals from Gitzo (like their traveller series) or Manfrotto (like their 190-series is the maximum I will take.)

I like the Oben CQL-13 for an even more compact, lighter solution for portability and fast setup/teardown. Then I use a bigger, heavier (sturdier) tripod when portability is less of a priority and I want higher stability and capacity.

This PD packs down pretty nicely but it still has most of the weight of a bigger tripod. I guess maybe it would be a good choice if you want a single tripod, jack of all trades master of none type thing.

I owned one. It's very nice, compact, and fits in a carry on backpack that I used for Frontier flight. That being said, I sold mine. Could t justify the price, especially when a $30 aluminum tripod that's lighter and smaller footprint works just as well for my needs

I bought 2 of them during that BB sale at $250. Sold one so mine only cost $75. I put a video head on it and have a 11 lb cinema cam on it. It's a nice compact video tripod that I'll probably never sell. It flexes less than other brand carbon travel tripod. But if you use a real camera rig I'd get a real stead tripod instead for the money. But I do travel quite often so this gets moved around

I recently bought a heipi w28s for a rather good price and it's definitely more stable then the PD when both are fully extended, due to the unique center column design. Or one could go for the more traditional and trusted options like the gitzo ones, which goes on sale from time to time and I would say is a better value than the PD
