I have the 2024 version of this laptop (4070), and it is great. Yes, $2000+ is too much for a laptop, however, if you want something this small and light, with this kind of GPU power, there isn't a better option. Just feels like quality. Runs quiet, OLED display is beautiful, and handles games like Warhammer without trouble. I don't normally use the built-in speakers, but they sound unbelievably good for being so tiny.

FWIW most of the reviews say this 5070 Ti variant is the sweet spot. Performs nearly like a 4080 from the 2024 model. This is a super thin laptop, as thin as a Razer and maybe halfway between a MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, many reviewers point out that the 5080 is thermally constrained and barely gives any performance improvement for a much larger price.

A 4050 is more entry level. A 5060 is mid tier. 5070ti is more upper middle tier. Depending on wattage its basically like a 4080.

Good deal. Got another 50$ discount at checkout. Couldn't replicate it when using the app, only in incognito. Also good to keep in mind that the cheaper 2024 4070 option is out of stock and hasn't been discounted in a while.

Any thoughts from a gaming laptops deals guru ?

The Zephyrus G16 4070 + Intel Ultra 9 + 16GB RAM went on sale for $1350 about a month ago, and various times around April 2025.

Is this 2025 G14 5070TI + AMD AI 9HX + 32GB RAM for $2050 ($1999 with coupon) a good value for price for performance? This version has Copilot which Im not sure what value this brings that could justify a $600+ premium over the G16 above.
Is the 5070TI more comparable to a 4080 than the 4070?

Repped!

Thanks for this info.
I added to my cart and got to checkout and they only gave me the $350 off. I then clicked on the cancel button and when it pushed me to a different screen I then got a pop-up telling me that if I bought a Microsoft device in the next 24h they'd give me another $50 off.

I can see where you might think that in a laptop especially since NVIDIA's product line has been a bit all over the place for this generation, but I have this laptop. I've tested both Oblivion Remastered and Darktide with it connected to my 3440x1440 144Hz ultrawide and it plays like a dream and stays surprisingly cool, even before tweaks. So while I would tend to agree with you, the 5070 Ti in this laptop is not a cheesy low-end card. Plus the 5xxx series multi frame generation helps reduce VRAM usage and makes things run buttery smooth.

Everything you've said is true but just a note that the GPU wattage on the G14 5070 Ti is 85 watts plus 25 watts dynamic boost for a maximum of 110 watts. This is below the max allowable 140 watt TDP. And it matters because the 5070 Ti actually scales really well with wattage. Nvidia would have probably set the maximum allowable TDP even higher except that they were worried it'd cut into 5080 mobile sales.

According to notebookcheck the G14 5070 Ti is the worst performer of all gaming notebooks with that chip that they tested. The 2023 G14 with 4080 actually performs better because it can go up to 125 watts.

I had been waiting for last year's 4060 to drop down to $1,000, which it never did, so I later ended up deciding that I'd much rather go ahead and spend the extra money and get a more awesome model that would be relevant for longer.

The 4070 is a good laptop but spending the extra money in order to get the better CPU, 5070 ti, and doubling the ram to 32 gigs is worth it to me. The size difference will be huge though when comparing the G16 and the G14. I think screen size should be one of your biggest deciding factors on a laptop. Most people would decide which screen size they want first before they start shopping around.

Yes thats true. Dave2d had a full video about it for scaling per wattage. They cant do a full wattage 5070ti in a g14. It would have some thermal issues. Youre paying for the size as this is the best 14" gaming laptop you can get in terms of weight build quality screen. That being said they should have just used a 5070 non ti.

IMO, the 5070ti is the real entry point in the 50xx modern mobile lineup. Anything under that that is nvidia/manufacturer's attempt at normalizing/selling scraps for $1300-1500 price points.

Yes, it probably would have suboptimal thermals. But plenty of other 14 inch notebooks have pushed total graphics power higher (Razer 14, 2023 version of G14). It's a design decision they've made. Agree that it has the best build quality. That's one of the trade offs.

I purchased this last night when I saw the price drop. My current laptop is close to 10 years old lol and I've been waiting for a sale on this particular unit. I think this is the first time the 2025 G14 with 5070ti has gone on sale. It's not a huge deal but it's a deal considering this is probably the best 14" gaming laptop in 2025.
