Is non-brass coupling a bad idea? Also how is this compared to the $28 contractor hose at Costco?
If you're talking the black rubber Costco hose, I have both (100' for the latter, though) and like them equally well for different uses. This one uncoils and coils much easier (though it is still possible to kink if you aren't careful). It's also a lot lighter. I use that to feed a powerwasher for my vehicles. The Costco one is built like a tank and can probably take twice the abuse. I use that in the yard where I'm not all too crazy about coiling it up nicely (and sometimes not at all). It's been in 110 AZ Sun too. Right tool for the task. Buy both!

If you remove the hose from the spigot after every use like Flexzilla warranty support seems to think is best, it will be fine (see major e-tailed reviews). If you have brass outdoor spigots (most of us do), and you keep your hose connected, you should get a hose with brass couplings.

I've had 3 flexzilla hoses sitting outside uninterrupted the last 4-5 years without issue.
