There is 8.99 shipping unless you pay 5.99 a month for membership. I bet this is one of those companies that will keep charging you no matter how many times you call. Should use one time credit cards with them. You can get a apple original tracker and some cheap scale for maybe a $1-$2 more. Could be even cheaper on sale.

Do people often take the scale with them? I think I usually would leave it at home. Not sure why the tracking built into the scale is a good thing

I think it may be for travelers who usually put the AirTag into their luggage and also want a scale to use during travel.
It may be useful if you are coming back from travel with gifts, etc and you want to make sure that you don't go over the weight limitations and you can track your luggage throughout your travels.
