wire is just so far superior. but for people like me, this is the only option aside from starlink which is twice the price and not really "better". but every few days ill have bad internet days, or no internet days, and then ill have bad latency in games. i used to game a lot, but since moving away from wired connection (in rural arean now) ive fully given up on multiplayer games since the latency is just too bad and i constantly get red connection so im teleporting all over the place.

We have the option of T-Mo, Fios or Spectrum and our T-Mo has been the most dependable with average speeds around 800mbps, not bad for $20 a month.
As I understand it, when one signs up, they get a dedicated "slot" (for lack of a better term) on a tower. So is not subject to cell tower switching or similar. That is why it is not always available when one plugs in an address to check (no available "slots").
But my biggest issue is they won't tell you what tower it is!!!
That is a biggie! I have a medical device that sends in data over a cell connection:
Provider: T-Mobile DATA O
Type: 4G
Service: -10.4
Signal: -116dBm
Plus the signal strength display on my device is 1 bar. Doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. But the data is somehow getting through.
There is a cell tower less than three miles to the west of me. If I had an external antenna mounted high enough on my TV antenna tower, I would have an unobstructed line of sight above the trees to the tower. But no way to know if that would be the tower.
There is also a former TV tower I can see from my kitchen window, a mile or two away, if that. Now used by an FM station, plus possibly for a low power digital TV transmitter in the future. I don't see anything that might be cell stuff on it.
The last thing I want is "can you hear me now?" with my internet data. So I am stuck with Spectrum who raises their prices then later raises the speed: We raised your speed at no additional cost!
(I wonder, how successful would I be in haggling Spectrum to get my price down, threatening to leave for T-Mobile?)
(Metronet is also in town, but they aren't available in the township. They terminate very close to the aforementioned former TV tower. Now that T-Mobile is buying Metronet, I wonder what changes that will bring.)
(I apologize for rambling a tad...)

The actual service itself has been pretty good. I was having problems with Charter Spectrum going down 2-5 times a day even after switching modems and having a technician come out and look at everything. With T-Mobile, my cell service has been very consistent I suppose due to my house's location. I've never had to reset the modem. Just looking for consistency.
Getting the $300 gift card was a huge bonus to having stable internet again.
Capital One shopping with use of Capital One credit card has $75 or $150 back, in addition to T-Mobile cash back.
Also, when I signed up, I had the option of 2 different rebates. I submitted both and they honored the cheaper of the 2, so keep that in mind if you're looking to stack

Mostly good advice, but wired DSL is not better than this. I have fiber as my main but use T-Mobile backup. On the T-Mobile I get 470-500Mbps download and 20-40Mpbs upload depending on time of day.
Of course, YMMV based on conditions. In just the past couple of years I went from having to get two DSL line bonded together to struggle in getting 15/2Mbps speeds to now having the choice of 1Gbps Fiber, fast 5G, (for the price of DSL) and Starlink --if I wanted it--. Color me shocked.
Can confirm. Fairly recently. They offered me $10 off for a couple of months to continue to try it to see if I really wanted to cancel, but they did not drag it out. Were polite and not pushy.
