I think the only reason I didn't get it before was due to the single USB C port. I always do a triple monitor setup with a hub so I want a free port.

Can't believe I will be the first one to ask for this question. Is the memory upgradable?

Are these laptops good for lugging around for college and work?

At this point, how much does processor matter since they're all so fast? Honest question.
Would this be a good mid-tier gaming laptop for an 11-year old?

I picked up this as it is directly from Acer, has 2 year warrant, good build reviews and decent spec for a high school laptop. school work mainly and decent support for games.

Thank you, but absolutely not. I actually bought and have this one at my house. It arrived with sticky crap on the cover, and smudges everywhere. When I pressed power nothing happened. I plugged it in - still nothing. They sold me a used one and are refusing to do absolutely anything about it. I never buy used or refuribished and this is why. And now I also learned that Acer's customer service is absolute GARBAGE.

Acer is not Asus.

I think it probably depends on whether you absolutely need a laptop for some bit of gaming. A 15.6" at 5.25 lbs (and don't forget the power brick) is going to be pretty hefty to lug around for school and work in my opinion. A 3 lb 14" thin laptop would be more to my liking for school and work. If budget wasn't an issue, I'd get an ultra portable for school/work and desktop for gaming.

He won't be taking it to school. The issue is so many cheaper or thinner laptops, as far as my knowledge goes, is the lack of dedicated GPU. I mean what is the biggest, most graphical game that integrated can handle these days?

If this had Thunderbolt or USB4 I'd be all over it. As it stands, pass.
