I have this Yes it's called a sauce pan but really I think it's intended as more of a butter warmer or for hot dips, things like that.I use it to heat maple syrup at a campsite.

I guess you could melt lead tire weights in this too. I wish they had cut one side with a sharper spout.

Cast iron should not be used as a sauce pan. Use stainless or carbon steel. Also, the bottom surface area of this pan is so small, it would not heat very efficiently unless you are using a burner and have the flame cranked so it's hitting the sides.

They are only banned in 9 states. Companies still actively market lead ones, although recently the EPA decided not to regulate them while noting declining use. (Most new cars don't come with them)

Yeah looks perfect for melting butter or maybe chocolate. Victoria cast iron usually has a smoother finish which is nice.

I agree idk why downvote. Cast iron makes no sense for saucepan: cast iron has higher thermal mass so will take longer to heat up, it'll stay hot for longer which you don't really need, heating may be slightly more even if you preheat it, but sauces are liquidy so already heat evenly (because liquid can move). Acidic sauces like tomatoes will react so you rule out an entire type of sauce. Just get a cheap stainless saucepan and call it a day. If you're bougie, then get a copper one

Size-wise I could use it to make bechamel. But enameled pans and saucepans are miles ahead for this purpose. Come on, it's not even that hard. Aldi, the cheapest of the cheapest, has them.

I also saw it as a crucible. Safety tip if metalworking: don't drop "one more piece" of scrap into a molten pool. The tiniest bit of moisture creates a molten metal grenade.

I agree. You learn that lesson once, you never will repeat that again. I was lucky, as was wearing appropriate leather covering on my arms.
