If you can accept the thick bolster/heel, this is a great starter set. (I prefer the non "S" professional line). Match it with a reasonable two sided stone and a strop, and it forms a great foundation to learn basic knife care.

Agreed. The only downside for the S line is that the top of the holster is thicker to accommodate the lack of the bottom bolster. That makes the S line knives hard to fit in regular knife blocks. Almost have to buy one of those straw blocks or a magnetic strip. Alternatively, you can stick it in a drawer but I like to display my knives.
Much better handle and weight than the four star that is often for sale.
I'm kinda surprised my four stars have not hand handle failures yet. They just seem chintzy . I started with some four stars, later added two pro models when they had a seconds sale, I prefer the pro model.
I suspect that the weight and feel is just about the same as this deal's model, so up vote.

Yeah great knife if you like german style blades. I use a pinch grip, Bolster is awful.
