Is an 18" OLED a good compromise for designers/gamers, and conference usage?

How does this compare to the $44 (after coupon) MNN brand I picked up in November. Is it really worth $300 more? https://a.co/d/eK2LdXW

I'm looking for one as opposed to this deal. Hard to find at a decent price point tho.

this looks to be the exact item as this OEM one. i have it and its quite good. only gripe is that when your computer turns off the signal to the monitor to sleep, it flashes the RGB pattern for a min and looks really distracting.

Those are IPS, this deal is for an OLED.

4K allows to down scale to 1440p, which is better than 1080p, for my usage.
4K is too much for office work, or reading texts.
But great for watching movies, or pixel peeping photos.

not a lot of laptop bags fit an 18", might have to hand carry, weights more too, but definitely more comfortable on the eyes.

One warning is that 4k in this size can be difficult because Windows scaling remains broken/tricky. You may experience blurry elements for which you'll have to tweak some settings to fix. Similarly, some more obscure applications may fail to scale properly on this display.

Good luck!

i get the point you were trying to make, but you did link to the 1080p not the 4k

that said, i picked up this 14" 4k touchscreen back in december 2021 for like $218 and it's been great, just wish it had vesa mount compatibility https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09FGK717V

I wouldn't walk around with a $371 monitor.

just searching "4k oled portable monitor" on amz turns up a 14" for $230 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DGPF1GM6 and a 16" for $275 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DGTVT8K3 and a 15.6" touchscreen for $320 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D1YBBMYN, so this is not that great of a deal

My eyes are just too old to handle 15" 4k, recently got a Uperfect UMAX 24 (24"/2k resolution/165hz) on ebay and it was perfect for my need. I don't need a monitor to lug around, just need a light portable monitor in and around the house that can be powered through USB C and feed whatever I throw at it (switch/xbox/pc)

I have this exact one. Flawless screen (not a single messed up pixel) and the fit and finish is like Apple hardware level. You NEED to have 2 cables to operate this thing though due the number of pixels it has to push out. So I have a 35W USB-C power brick feeding power into the monitor, and then I have another Thunderbolt cable coming out of the monitor and into the laptop. If you just have a Thunderbolt cable from your laptop to monitor, then the monitor flickers on and off like it has seizures (I have a Dell XPS with 10th gen Intel). I have 2 other 1080p Portable montiors and none of those needs 2 cables to operate.
