That might "matter" to some people - it does for me since I'm having to replace all of my Wemo switches and Matter seems to be the best way to future proof as much as possible.
How well do these work when it comes to reconnecting after a power outage? Do they reconnect by themselves or have to register them all over again?
Mine have no problem reconnecting after a power outage - and if they do, there's a restart switch right under the paddle that can be pressed so they reboot. You'll want to make sure your WiFi is back up first.

any different between kasa and tapo as they same company?
Both Tapo and Kasa devices can be controlled in the Tapo app. Both product lines are of similar (good) quality IMO. I have them all added to Home Assistant and they integrate nicely.
