Thats crazy! But goes to show you a good air cooler can hang with AIOs on some challenging cooling scenarios! Impressed and I build PCs for a living lol 😆
I have the same CPU and have been using this cooler for 10 months. It performs solidly.
Not sure how it does on current gen gpus though, I have moved to a duo34.

That's bold but i respect it
If it really did, you may have had the PA120 installed wrong or a bad thermal paste application. This is a good deal for the Hyper 212, a cooler that's been around forever and known to work, but Thermalright is the reason this is now only $10. Their coolers are among the best performing and among the cheapest in reviews. That's also been my experience, but, to be fair, I have an old original Hyper 212 as my experience. In any case, glad it's working for you.
