Is the 16gb with 256gb ssd good enough to last a sophomore till at least freshman in college? I saw the mac 599$ M1 on sale too but that one came out on 2020 so I don't think it will be enough to get a sophomore through high school. Will this 2025 m4 be good enough for a few years?

very likely yes and beyond. Unless you have very specific needs which are not too common. This is a great deal for an excellent laptop that is both thin and light plus pretty powerful. Just know that since this is a Mac it may not be the best for hard core gaming.

Yes. Unless they're doing very specialized work that requires very specialized software, this computer will almost certainly do everything they'd need it to do through high school. Honestly, you'd probably be okay with even the M1, but the M4 is a no-brainer as far as I'm concerned.

Yes. My M1 Pro 8GB got me thru 😅 16GB should be able to handle heavy internet browsing (streaming videos, etc.) and office apps. And 256GB is enough if you use online storage like Google Drive, One Drive, etc. for big files.
