Available Retailers:About this Book:
  • Author: Isaac Asimov
  • Print Length: 304 pages
  • I, Robot, the first and most widely read book in Asimov's Robot series, forever changed the world's perception of artificial intelligence. Here are stories of robots gone mad, of mind-reading robots, and robots with a sense of humor. Of robot politicians, and robots who secretly run the world - all told with the dramatic blend of science fact and science fiction that has become Asimov's trademark.
  • The Three Laws of Robotics:
    1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
    2. A robot must obey orders given to it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
    3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
  • With these three, simple directives, Isaac Asimov formulated the laws governing robots' behavior. In I, Robot, Asimov chronicles the development of the robot from its primitive origins in the present to its ultimate perfection in the not-so-distant future - a future in which humanity itself may be rendered obsolete.

FYI, this is free at about 99% of the public libraries in the United States. Almost all of them have an Ebook online section now. Mine has 10's of thousands of books you can check out for your eReader. Most all of the old classics like this and a lot of the modern books as well. They even have stuff that just came out or is on the current best seller list. Not sure why people don't take advantage of the library system anymore. My library is always empty. They even have programs at the library where you can use your library card to visit most of the museums and zoos in my state for free. You can check out Hotspot to have wifi on your road trip, check out laptops for college or school work, video games for Ps5 and Xbox, etc. I'm blown away at their resources compared to what they had when I was a kid.

I think Caves of Steel is the one that is most similar to the I, Robot movie? Is that right? Read it so long ago, I don't remember.

There should be a way to filter out e-books from slickdeals... It's getting more common. How many people are actually interested in them? (I mean buying a digital copy - not the content itself).

These are probably my top purchase. In short, if I see an interesting ebook, I check on Libby first. If the wait is over like 6 weeks, I drop the $2. It's cheaper than a bottle of pop and better for me.
