For anyone who doesn't know already, Amazon mixes inventory of all of their sellers, which is why counterfeits are so rampant. Items Samsung is sending direct for resale get tossed in the same bin as the "same" items sent by BestHappyPanda LLC. Apparently it's cheaper to issues refunds to the people who notice it than it is to properly track.
These EVO drives slow down to under 10mb/s once you start filling them up. Don't remember the exact cutoff point, but they're basically 1 time use, meant for storage/read-only.
I think I remember formatting the drive too, and it never recovered. 80mb/s reads, 10mb/s writes.

I've learned my lesson about buying flash storage on Amazon. Just say no.
This.

I've been burned twice by Amazon sending counterfeit Samsung SD. And lately, Amazon has been sending a lot of falsely reviewed garbage resulting in several returns. As a result, my purchases with them is less than 10% of what it was this time last year.

We purchased a ~$1500 Xeon CPU and ended up with a blank CPU PCB with a chunk of copper under a legitimate looking heat spreader. Fortunately, it fell apart when we took it out of the server to troubleshooting the no boot.
Amazon gave us a lot of hassle about processing the return\refund. I'm confident they would have denied the claim had it been from a regular personal account instead of our high volume business account.

That's really bad. None of Amazons outrageous scams surprise me any more. Im glad you stuck to your guns and forced them to make good on your return.
I recently bought a refurbished lithium ion hand vac through Amazon. What arrived was an old smashed used pug-in vac that appeared to have been from the 1950's and dug up from a land fill. It was encrusted with dried mud and the metal parts had rusted out. There was even a brand new "Past QC" inspection sticker on it! I called Amazon to complain to a supervisor and was transferred to an extremely rude Indian fellow who spoke in a thick unintelligible accent. As he fumbled with his keyboard, he was cursing to himself under his breath. Then he actually refused to process a return, resulting in a charge back through my credit card.
Amazon has its uses, but now I almost always purchase through reputable dealers before choosing to be another ScamAzon victim. And not to mention the hours of time that was wasted.
