Ignored others talking about the coil whine on Gigabyte boards. Got one with this chip (it was an Eagle though). Coil whine sucked. Have to uninstall and return. I won't buy another Gigabyte board

I have this matx version. One a plus side - beautiful board, conveniently located connectors, lots of usb ports.
On the other hand - I had to rma first one due to some weird VRM issue. Gigabyte quickly swapped for a new one. Also no coil whining

For this price, I could care less about coil whine unless it also affects 🎧, and then I'd probably try using a sound card before returning it or doing an RMA

Cool. Many find it annoying. I got the Gigabyte board for $100. It's still going back.

Coil whine on a mobo?

That's a new low - there are too many boards out there to ever roll the dice, I'd steer very clear of this one.

For the uninitiated, if you've never experienced coil whine (typically from GPU) it's a hard binary - you're either able to deal with it or it's impossible to ignore (esp If your hearing is more attuned to high frequencies IYKYK).

Newegg on the top of the page has a large warning about refusing damaged returns. The tldr is that if they ship you a board with a damaged cpu socket, they will try to blame you and not refund the board. Keep that in mind. I suggest that you film the process of opening the box and checking the socket.

Assuming you need RAM as well, Microcenter has a similar bundle that comes with 32GB DDR5-6000 for 549 but with an ASUS TUF board. For $50 more at 599, you can get the same bundle with 9800X3D.

People are exaggerating about the coil whine. I guess y'all don't run any fans in your setup either, since that makes an audible noise too...

Which is nice if you have a MicroCenter within driving distance. We don't have one in Phoenix for some strange reason.
