I just bought one myself today! Sale ends 8/18. For a new 8" jointer I think this will be the best one at this price point.

Pair this with a Dewalt 735(x) and you've practically got yourself a wood shop. Don't forget the table saw

Freight shipping is $325.

If you don't want to spend 2k, the 6" version with spiral cutter head is around $900 on the same website, also a fantastic deal. I'm buying once and crying once. It's been nonstop crying since I started this hobby.

220v. Might be the limitation on most home shops. Wish I could run one.

If you're spending $1800 on a jointer 220v is going to be a selling point, not a problem. Helical blades bog down more than straight blades and require the extra juice, especially for the 8 inch ones. If you're not at the point where you want to commit to running a 220v line stick with the 6" model.
