Summer weekends are peak travel season for a lot of locations, so rates are generally higher and many beach/lake/vacation destinations are already sold out or super inflated price wise, so this promo is largely smoke and mirrors rather than a "deal" in the traditional sense. As with all travel, you may be able to find a deal using the code, it will likely require quite a bit of time investment in researching which destinations the code is ideal for booking. This code isn't anything new...the Marriott QRI promo code has always been around for weekend deals, and for me, I've never really found a great rate using the code whenever I check. The code has generally applied to hotels with excess inventory looking to fill rooms, which there aren't many during summer weekends.

Please post back if anybody finds a significant cost savings or deal using the code.

It depends what you value. As a platinum I've been given both late check out and early check in every time I've asked for it. I've also been upgraded to either a better view or higher floor 3 out of the 5 times when I bought the base room. Stayed 53 nights this year, on track to crack 75+ for titanium next year. No complaints here.

Since COVID, the entire transient hotel market is out of whack.

It used to be that weekdays were the bread and butter, and rates were higher then. I assume business travel is still soft, and as a result, you can travel for work and find weekday rates for prime business hotels at very reasonable rates. If you try to book many of those hotels over the weekends, they're 2-3x the weekday rate.

It used to be that $400-$500 a night was Ritz Carlton territory; now, it's just an average Hilton/Marriott/Renaissance or, worse, one of their lower-tier hotels.

Agreed and customer service is nonexistent. My points aren't showing up for a 12 night stay I had in early June, I've emailed, called and filled out the form. Just keep getting a copied and pasted response saying they'll look into it. I'm done with Bonvoy. Not what they used to be. Just got my Hilton Amex and will use that and them from now on. Maybe that'll be better.

I can only see "Rate unavailable" within 50 miles of my would-be VT destination.

Choice hotels (Comfort Inn) was running a similar promo which actually worked. Not sure how to activate it, went from google hotel search and clicked special rate.
