Costco likely has the world's BEST AND EASIEST return policy so long as you either have a receipt or the membership no. it was purchased with. I'm a Cali girl and have been a member/have family with memberships since its inception in San Diego and while I am not a fan of this portion/though it can come in handy if truly applicable, I have witnessed ludacrous grossly used items people returned yrs later and still received full refund!! Not at all suggesting abuse, but this is a place you can buy with confidence! 🫶

That's why if I need any kind of a major purchase and if Costco carries it, I buy it there.

I bought the 8000 btu version and then returned it. There was a knocking noise of the fan hitting and damaging the refrigerant line. Sooner or later that line will break and leak all refrigerant out. I dont understand how hisense did not do any quality control.

I have one for the master bedroom that actually gets too much air flow. It's either an ice box or a sauna, depending on the season. I keep it on "Dry" mode and it seems to do the job. However, my bedroom is not that big, maybe 350 sq ft., max. My biggest irritation is that the remote's screen is not backlit, and it's quite hard to see, unless a light is shining directly on it.
Install was easy. Included insulation materials were adequate. You could make it better, but no real reason to take a trip to a home center.

As parents facing a possible empty nest in a few years, I could see myself purchasing more for other rooms and giving the central AC a break.

My unit is pretty silent. Others may not be. That probably speaks to a QC issue. You could get a good one, or a bad one. But the good thing is, it's from Costco. You can return and try again.

The unit is not very heavy. The weight is distributed somewhat awkwardly, but I didn't have any issues lifting it over and over again to check for fit and add more insulation strips, and such.

I also have it and mine is loud, but the word I would use to describe it is bass-y. It sounds like a subwoofer. I don't know how or why. It's doing a good job cooling the room it's in though

You could probably reduce that a lot by adding some padding under it. It's turning your wall/strcture into a sub. I have one that does that too. But it's not bad.

My unit like this one though is whisper quiet.
