Is this just wifi 5? Have a non tech neighbor who wants a new AP and i figured he could use something like this no problem.

Specs page is inaccurate. It's tri-band. So 2.4ghz for long range, 5ghz for fast short-range, and another 5ghz channel for connecting the mesh nodes togeather.

Anybody know if you can disable the separate bands? I only need 5ghz or the 2.4ghz just as an AP. I currently use ASUS mesh nodes as dedicated 2.4ghz AP and another for 5ghz AP. They were more reliable (less rebooting required) when I split them up like that.

For some reason their site says this WC4S model is only for internet speeds up to 800Mbps where other models are 1Gbps. Maybe this one has a cheaper/slower CPU?

I have both this system and the AX11000 version. They have a single SSID and it steers the clients onto the correct band.

For what it's worth, both have been fantastic in terms of raw hardware, throughput on the back haul, etc. They also allow a wired back haul, which I wired AFTER 2 switches and it had zero issues.

The only reason I stopped using the AX11000 was because one single Ring camera (my doorbell) refused to connect to the node 8 feet away, and instead connected to the main node on the opposite side of the house, where it barely functioned. Not sure why the damn thing did that.

The app was limited but gave a live map of the connected devices, speeds, etc and was enough for basic management.

This wifi5 system has been at a friends house for a couple years, and he has no complaints.

at first I was going to rag on this but for 30 bucks if you can get these set up without much a headache proably have a solid wifi5 system. This would be good for that friend or fam who has horrible internet and is too lazy to invest even 5mins into fixing it.
