It is, there are kits. It will void the warranty and you should at least be somewhat comfortable being gentle and taking apart something that doesn't make it easy for you to take it apart. There's a great video here describing the process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJC73hm3VM4

Just wanted to chime in; it might not be relevant to everyone here, but Costco Visa no longer has extended warranty, so if you want to go beyond the two years, youll have to use a different card. It is generally one extra year for most of the visas, but (ironically), alot of other citi cards give you two extra years!

Yes but it makes more sense to move large files to an external SSD.
In my old mac mini (m2pro) I JUST put the OS on the internal SSD (512gb), and I connected a thunderbolt NVMe which was just as fast (1TB) and put apps, user, and data on there. This made backing up much easier (IMHO). While it is crabby for Apple to do this, its not a big deal w/ usb4/tb these days. Its a tad ugly but I remember the days when a MBP was a dongle mess... Just don't shortchange RAM and you are AOK.

Yes, if you have experience building computers from scratch or servicing them.

Microcenter has it at $450 and before you say you don't have a microcenter near you and call me names just go online at best buy and have them price match it to your nearest microcenter and have it shipped to you or picked-up locally.
Thanks for the inspiration - got my local BB to price match the MC pricing even though they are on the other side of the state (3 hours away -- Michigan).

If you shut down your Mac after every use, it will be a problem. Most of use just let it go to sleep.

Again, warranty not voided please read Magnuson Moss Warranty Act.Some expo: https://www.google.com/search?cli...8&oe=UTF-8
Upgrading the hard drive on a Mac mini may void the warranty if the upgrade process causes damage to the device or if the replacement is not done by an authorized Apple service provider.

Did they deny your claim ? Or is this hypothetical?
When things go wrong... the first thing they do is DENIAL and I am not talking about the river.
My brother-in law got the attorney general of the state involved when he purchased a HP DUD laptop in the day.
I had to sue another company which paid me my damages the day before court.
WOW... I have disputed Paypal a few times... ect... And my claim got denied!!!! That got me pissed.

What does an HP example have to do with Apple? Sounds all very hypothetical to me.

Yes, if you damage it, Apple won't cover that damage. We're not debating that. We're debating the premise that opening the mini M4 will void the warranty, or that replacing the drive voids the warranty. That's not true.

All companies are the same... DENIAL when it comes to warranties... they try not to pay, just like the insurance companies. I use HP cause it is a large pc maker.
Point is... you change the hard drive yourself, you will most likely void the warranty.

I quoted google AI... and it said you void your warranty if you do it yourself and you are not a authorized apple service provider.
But really, who cares. How many apple devices have broke on you for just using it normally.

There should be no problem if you shut down every day or ten times a day. This is RIDICULOUS.

I did a price match thru the Best Buy website. You have to purchase at full price first then they credit the difference but speak with them in chat before making the purchase.
Yeah just did the same. Got one a few days ago.

Wow a lot of wussies here. Back in the day I swapped out the hard drive of a 12" PowerBook G4. Instructions here: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Powe...cement/548
There were 49 screws of different sizes to remove so as you took the laptop apart you took a photograph of each area, printed it and put a Dixie cup with the screws on top of the photo so you could be sure to put them back in the right place.

There's a lesson there: don't quote google AI. Instead, read the law. I've already told you exactly what to read and what the facts are.
