I got this the last time it was at $11 and it works well. However I lost the little screw that holds the lid in place very quickly but luckily I had others that worked well.Others have mentioned potential issues with heat dissipation. I haven't experienced it myself but I guess you could use one of those really thick thermal pads to help dissipate the heat with the lid. Just be careful it's not too thick and outs too much pressure on the ssd when you close it

Everytime I see this POS, I will tell everyone my experience.

Got 3 of this things from the sale. All three came DOA. On top of that, I gave it another chance and returned and got a 3 replacements.

Guess what?!

All had the same problem. Google Orico NVME reddit. And you'll know what Iam talking about.

Add 5-8 bucks and buy the Ugreen. At least you know your getting a working product.

STAY AWAY from this POS. o

PS. it comes with its own kind of screw, so if you end up nowhere without the screw driver (it's one of those specialize shape), then you're out of luck.

can confirm it overheats if you use it for prolong periods of time. it went up to 100C for me but for normal storage it's fine.

I have one - its RTL9210B which is good. All sorts of issues on Linux with the old firmware it came with though and no official way to flash a newer one, but after upgrading to latest generic firmware its been solid. Trim works. Discard works if you change the provisioning_mode. Its fast too, but not worth the hassle when you can get the Fideco with the same chipset in a chunky tool-free aluminum enclosure for $5 more.

Statistically speaking, it is more likely your computer was the problem instead of the six enclosures you tried.
I bought 4 at different times and haven't had any issues with them. I use one of them to run virtual machines off of. It is obviously not as fast as a local drive but barely noticible for most things at 700-800 MB/s r/w

edit2: I was wrong, only one of the four I bought about a year ago was this product. The other 3 looks similar (maybe rebranded) but they were this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BWXDT8TB

Statistically, the item is a POS when pages after pages of reddit users are talking about it.

Should have I told you I used 4 laptops and one newly built PC?
Used countless of USB cables.
Had 2 different NVME (Samsung and MSI) and that those 2 NVMEs worked fine on my other enclosures?
Should I have told you that all the NVMEs had the latest updates?

Sure. There, all of that were done.

I stand firm that this product is POS.

Again, Google the name and put reddit on it. You will see the error.

Thank God for reddit, atleast you see real users, and not posters who are paid to review a product or promote product even if it's a POS item.

Ok, that makes your experience even stranger compared to mine. I am not invested in convincing others to buy this.
Edit: I updated my original response. Only one of the four I bought was this product. The others were similar looking https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BWXDT8TB
