use paypal, will protect you
Paypal will "NOT" protect you, I bought an item from AliExpress and they first provide a fake FedEx tracking number for a few days then changed it to USPS, they shipped something to another address (I bought a $600+ item) and then put the USPS tracking number in showing it was delivered. As a FYI AliExpress has no way to know a seller has changed a tracking number (I found that out) and the seller also faked a USPS documented with my name and address and a fake signature. When I contacted PayPal and provided the information on the scam, after their research they said the item was delivered according to the tracking number and declined my request for a refund... Only way I ever got my money back was to fake a USPS Shipping label (Which AliExpress "Requires") and sent a picture of a different item saying the seller shipped the wrong item, Seller tried to dispute it but I got my money back 100% ... I would never buy anything from that site again over $10, shop there at your own risk!

How much effort to assemble this ?
Probably 85% assembled. You'd do better buying from AcBest ebikes at this price point.

AliExpress is an absolute joke.
I attempted to buy a couple of high-ticket items (over $100) because they were dirt cheap compared to other places. What did I get? Two weeks of radio silence followed by a sudden cancellation—and they held onto my money the entire time. Not a single update. No accountability.
Their entire setup is borderline scammy. Sellers bait you with ridiculously low prices, wait to see how many suckers bite, then decide whether they'll bother fulfilling the order. They're under no pressure to follow through, and you're stuck wondering if you just threw your money into a black hole.
AliExpress is basically retail roulette—you spin the wheel and hope your order doesn't vanish into thin air.

How do you like it? Any issues or problems?
Haven't assembled it yet, but everything that was supposed to come with it came, no damage to any of the parts. It's a bike for my son's new school he's starting on mid august, so I won't build it until later this week.

Anyway, just got shipping notice on my order - ETA 08/09/25.
Welp, Fedex is acknowledging the package weight as 103.6 lbs, so at least I'm getting a reasonable amount of rubble in the package and not just an old toilet seat.

ofcourse yo get what you paid for. I received this 5 days ago. fixed everything. connected charger over night. excited to ride next morning but charger did not charge at all. tried another day. oops none. connected and sent a message to seller. absolutely no response. they have a dedicated line mentioned on ali express absolutely no response. for the past 3 days I am struggling to get any response from them. don't buy it. you will be very unhappy 😭. worst ever experience. how can a seller not respond for 3 days when the battery does not even charge right out of the bat.

If 40mph is dangerous on throttle, it's just as dangerous while pedaling. The only purpose wattage limits accomplish is to prevent ebikes from being a viable alternative to cars.
Yeah, I get what you're saying, and I agree that the wattage limits don't really make sense from a safety standpoint. I think the real reason these faster e-bikes are technically illegal isn't because of safety — it's because the government hasn't figured out how to tax them or wrap them into their usual system.

With cars, there's registration, insurance, fuel taxes, inspections — all these things bring in money. But if everyone started using high-speed e-bikes that don't need gas, don't need insurance, and don't go through the DMV, they'd lose out. So instead of admitting that, they try to limit them by calling them dangerous or classifying them differently based on wattage or throttle use.

Basically, it's not really about safety. It's about control and keeping people in the system they can charge money for.

Weird pivot to Tesla out of the blue. However, since you did - let's look at that number a different way. Out of the approximately 7,050,000 vehicles produced by Tesla (since your list was started in 2013) there have been less than 0.0035% that have had some sort of fire related incident. And, for further context, your list contains causes such as:
"Tesla goes off road, hits a tree, and bursts into flames", "Tesla burns, arson suspected," "Car carrier carrying Tesla's catches on fire," "Tesla drives off cliff and catches on fire" and "Trash fire spreads to Tesla"
But back to the topic of battery starting a fire - there is always a chance of a fire from batteries. Just do some general due-diligence to drastically minimize the chances

The wattage limits have no bearing whatsoever on preventing ebikes from being a viable alternative to cars.

It's no different than how they treat scooters/motorcycles. 49CC or lower is generally not considered a "motorcycle" and therefore don't require a motorcycle endorsement.

If you want a faster/more powerful ebike, no one is stopping you. It just needs to be correctly registered and maybe tagged depending on the state.
No bearing? Dude it's called a hill. If you want chunky Susan and fat Fred to use the ebike instead of a car then it needs real power.

Real solution to all this garbage is no limits for over 18, under 250 or 500 for under 18s. Done
