We just had a couple of people in our group have a set of these, even when trying to turn off the factory receive CTCSS tones, it would revert back. Avoid these and get the TIDRADIO TD-M11 radios instead. They can be programmed with a bluetooth app and you can even set them to wide band. https://a.co/d/9PqxcJj

I saw this same thing on other RETEVIS posts:
"compatible with other Retevis FRS 2 way raidos on the same channel and CTCSS/DCS; such as retevis RT22 H777 RT21 RT68 B3H B3B RT22P etc"

...so it comes with CTCSS preset to an undisclosed key that matches other radios from this brand but makes it not work on the general FRS channel?
So you either stick to this brand or get other radios that have programmable CTCSS to match?

if this radio is on CH1 (CTCSS???) and you have a different generic brand radio on CH1 (no CTCSS) there's no way for the RETEVIS to hear it right? whereas the no CTCSS radio will hear the RETEVIS. I know that's *the point* of CTCSS but the preset/unchangeable aspect seems to really limit the universal compatibility aspect of these FRS radios.

maybe someone more FRS knowledge can clarify?

If it had some specification for range, I'd buy.

The video on radio range is worth watching on product page. Nice music and very informative. In for 2!

$8 more just to turn off the tones? a simple firmware update can fix that. should be an easy fix for their programmers
