"compatible with other Retevis FRS 2 way raidos on the same channel and CTCSS/DCS; such as retevis RT22 H777 RT21 RT68 B3H B3B RT22P etc"
...so it comes with CTCSS preset to an undisclosed key that matches other radios from this brand but makes it not work on the general FRS channel?
So you either stick to this brand or get other radios that have programmable CTCSS to match?
if this radio is on CH1 (CTCSS???) and you have a different generic brand radio on CH1 (no CTCSS) there's no way for the RETEVIS to hear it right? whereas the no CTCSS radio will hear the RETEVIS. I know that's *the point* of CTCSS but the preset/unchangeable aspect seems to really limit the universal compatibility aspect of these FRS radios.
maybe someone more FRS knowledge can clarify?
