Boulevard of Broken Dreams was near impossible to have missed if you were in the US. It won the Grammy for Record of the Year, MTV video of the year, reached #2 on Billboard, and was the 9th highest selling single of the whole 2000-2010 decade.

If you truly never heard it, you must have focused on your studies much more than I did. Congrats.

The other singles from this album are Holiday, American Idiot, and Wake Me Up When September Ends. (thanks Wikipedia)

I'm sorry, did you somehow forget what american Idiot was about? Did you not grow up in the United States in the 2000s? Don't pretend this band has been nothing but political in their music. This is including Dookie. You just chose to ignore the politics and not hear what the message was.

There are albums that was release 50 years ago that is even cost twice as much as this Green Day record. Depending on the demand, that is how these vinyls get's priced.

This has got to be one of the most iconic bands out there. I will forever have feelings of nostalgia when hearing their early work.

Unfortunately, their use of a stage to force their extreme, anti-American political views on the masses conflicts my ability to enjoy their music in the purest way. Billie Joe Armstrong actually said, "F*** America" in a London concert a few years ago. He then stated that he was going to renounce his US citizenship (a claim that he never actually followed through on).

I respect freedom of speech and differences of opinion. The members of this band have disrespected and spat on the country that gave them their fame and fortune. In the end, their principles weren't strong enough to have them follow through on their claims to leave our country because they know the truth and that is that they couldn't get away with this kind of behavior in most other areas of the world.

They are talented musicians and iconic performers that, on principle, I can't allow myself to financially support on any level. Such a shame.

Was kidding.... They quite literally played every song on the radio for about 1.5 years straight. I actually purchased this as I like it, but I needed a good 15 years to recover from the oversaturation

Well said. Strange that all these artists can't see the irony and hypocrisy of their anti-American stance.

*sigh* here we go... First of all, take a breath. It will all be ok. Yes, I understand that they are politically driven artists. I'm not sure what parts of my original comment gave the impression that I didn't have that understanding given that the nature of how they express their political views was the major takeaway. There have been many iconic artists over the years who have been socially and politically outspoken. I respect everyone's rights to have their own opinions and it is important to reflect on ourselves as a culture and a nation in order to improve. This has been seen countless times in history. The things I take issue with is the use of the stage to flagrantly disrespect their own country in the ways that they have. I never said that they weren't political from the start. I simply stated that their early work will always bring back feelings of nostalgia for me. That's because of the era and the age I was when first hearing their music. I can respect and enjoy artists from different walks of life but when you choose to use your fame to degrade and insult your own country, as a whole, by saying, "f*** America" at a European concert, well, I have a very difficult time wanting to support people like that. Now, again, I don't see it as my place to be so self righteous as to try to tell anyone else how to spend their money and gave the disclaimer that my choice to not financially support this band was mine alone. If you feel like something I've said here is still offensive or confusing to you, I don't really know what else to say. If you buy the album, enjoy it. I wish I could but I won't. End of story.
I don't think it's a big of a deal for a random band to say F America as it is for our current president to say F every other country and world leader over and over and over again. You're not diving deeply enough into why they said that. And to be fair, you don't really need to. There are a lot of people that are choosing to keep their head in the sand nowdays. Music, art and the artists who make it have always been the ones that are more open to expressing their views. That's exactly how they spend their time and make their living.

I know exactly why they said it. It was covered extensively at the time. Here's what has happened; I shared a perspective (respectfully) and you decided to condescend by straight up telling me that I don't know why they behaved the way they did and imply that my opinion is obviously less than because you are enlightened and my head is, "in the sand". It's ok if you don't feel the same way. I understand that not everyone sees this the same way. The difference is, I'm not belittling your take on this just because I disagree.
